➕ How do I add an event in VesselReport?
Vessel.Report allows you to add new reporting events at any time. You can either continue the existing event chain, insert a missing event between previously submitted events, or add an event directly through the Schedule module. This ensures that your ship's reporting history remains complete and chronological.
📋 Option 1: Add an event through the Events module
- Open the Events section from the left-hand menu.
- Use the date range to display the relevant reporting period.
- Click the green + Add Event button.
- To continue reporting, select the button at the top of the event list (when sorted Latest First).
- To insert a forgotten event, click + Add Event between the two existing events where the missing event belongs.
- Select the appropriate event type.
- Enter the required information, such as date, time, position, fuel consumption and remaining bunkers (ROB), depending on the event type.
- Save the event.
✅ Tip: When inserting a missing event, always double check the chronological order and the consistency of fuel consumptions in the following event.
📅 Option 2: Add an event through the Schedule module
You can also create events directly from an existing schedule entry, such as a planned port call.
- Open the Schedule section from the left-hand menu.
- Find the relevant schedule entry.
- Click Add Event... at the bottom of the schedule entry.
- Select the appropriate event type.
- Complete the required reporting information.
- Save the event.
Advantage: Events created through the Schedule module are automatically linked to the corresponding schedule entry. This keeps your planned operations and actual reporting events connected.
💡 Good to know
- Missing events: Forgotten events can be inserted retrospectively without having to recreate the entire event chain.
- Chronological order: Events are displayed according to their reporting timestamps.
- Schedule integration: Events entered through a schedule entry are automatically associated with that port call or operation.
- Event availability: Depending on the previously reported events, certain event types may be unavailable to prevent incorrect reporting sequences.
- Data consistency: Adding an event retrospectively may affect consumption calculations and ROB balances. Review subsequent events where necessary.
