🕒📊 How can I view, manage, and validate vessel reporting data across all events in Fleettracker?
The Event-based Data module is the central workspace for reviewing and managing all operational reports of a ship in a structured timeline. It allows users to monitor reported data, detect inconsistencies, edit entries, and ensure data quality across voyages. Users can filter events, identify data quality (DQ) issues, edit reports, manage ROBs (Remaining on Board), consumption, and communicate directly with vessels when corrections are required.
The Event-based Data module provides a chronological timeline of all vessel events., reported by the ship.
Each event contains detailed operational data including position, cargo, distance, fuel consumption, and ROBs.
This view is especially important for operations, data quality teams and fleet emission managers, as it consolidates all relevant reporting data into one place.

Key Features
🧭 Event Timeline & 🔎 Filtering & Customization
- All reports are displayed in a time-based sequence
- Each row represents one event with detailed data fields such as: Event type, Event timestamp, Port name and UNlocode, Port activity, DQ issues, Time since previous report, distance, position, cargo/dwt carried, rob, BDN based consumption, sounding correction and CII correction
- Available event types are: ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE, NOON, BOSP, EOSP, ANCHOR_START, ANCHOR_END, DRIFTING_START, DRIFTING_END , CANAL_START and CANAL_END
- Filter the table by categories such as:
- Data Quality
- Time & Distance
- Position & Cargo
- Consumption
- Option to hide empty columns for a cleaner view
- Timeframe can be adjusted:
- Predefined ranges (e.g. 30 / 90 / 365 days)
- Custom date selection
⚠️ Data Quality (DQ) Indicators
- Events are automatically checked for inconsistencies
- Issues are highlighted directly in the table (e.g. warnings and errors)
- Examples include:
- ROB inconsistencies
- Consumption deviations
- Missing or mismatched data
👉 A detailed explanation of Data Quality checks is covered in a separate article.
✏️ Edit & Manage Events
Users can directly interact with each event:
- Edit Event
Modify report details such as:- Timestamp
- Position (manual & AIS)
- Distance
- Other operational data
- Access Original Daily Report (Crew Input)
- Click on the report name in the first column (e.g. NOON, ARRIVAL)
- Opens the original report submitted by the vessel crew
- Allows review and editing of the raw reported data
-
🗺️ View Past Track
- Open the vessel’s past track directly from an event
- For regular events: shows the track since the previous report
- For arrival events: shows the full voyage track since the last departure
💡 Tip: Use the past track to quickly verify reported positions and identify deviations in vessel movement.
- Manage ROBs
- Edit bunker quantities per fuel type
- Assign BDN numbers
- Correct inconsistencies
- Edit Consumption Data
- Adjust fuel consumption entries per event
⚠️ Note: Editing and creating events function require specific user permissions. If you do not have access, please contact your company’s Fleettracker administrator.
➕ Create Missing Events
- Users can manually add missing reports/events
- Ensures a complete and continuous reporting timeline
📧 Communication with Vessel
- Generate and send a Data Quality report directly to the vessel
- Helps crews quickly identify and correct reporting issues
Why it matters
The Event-based Data module is one of the most important operational tools for Fleettracker GOLD users, as it:
- Ensures data consistency and reliability
- Provides full transparency across all vessel reports
- Enables quick error detection and correction
- Supports accurate performance and emissions analysis
