⛽ How can I view, edit, and manage bunker delivery notes (BDNs) including fuel data and emission factors in Fleettracker?
The Edit BDN module in the GHG tab provides a complete overview of all bunker deliveries (BDNs) recorded for a ship. It allows users to review, edit, and validate fuel-related data, including supplier details, fuel composition, and emission factors. The module is a key component for ensuring accurate emissions reporting and regulatory compliance (EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime, IMO DCS, MRV).
1. BDN Overview Table
The main table displays all bunker deliveries for the selected vessel and year.
It includes:
- Delivery timeframe (Start / End UTC)
- Port / delivery location
- Fuel type
- BDN number
- Fuel quantity
- Supplier and receiver
- Status flags (Used up / Frozen)
- Last update timestamp
Users can filter by:
- Ship
- Year
- Ship group
This view provides a quick overview of all fuel bunkering activities.
2. Edit / Manage BDN Data
By clicking the edit icon, the BDN detail window opens.
Users can modify:
- Bunker start and end date
- Fuel type (product and display name)
- Fuel class (e.g. fossil, biofuel)
- BDN number
- Supplier details (name, address, contact)
- Receiver
⚠️ Permission required
Editing BDN data requires special user rights. Please contact your company’s Fleettracker administrator if you do not have access.
Additional controls:
- Used up → marks fuel as consumed
- Freeze → locks the BDN against automatic updates from incoming reports from board
💡 Best practice
Use the Freeze function once data has been validated to prevent unintended changes from new report imports.
3. Fuel Components
Each BDN can contain one or more fuel components, defining the detailed fuel characteristics. This is especially relevant for blended fuels (Blends e.g. B50) and Biofuels.
Within this section, users can:
- Adjust quantity (mt)
- Define mass share and energy share
- Review density, sulphur content
- Maintain calorific values (FuelEU / IMO DCS)
Additional attributes:
- Defining component
- Default type
4. Emission Factors
Each fuel component is linked to emission factors used for regulatory reporting.
Users can:
- View emission factors across:
- EU ETS
- FuelEU Maritime
- IMO DCS
- MRV
- Edit emission values
- Add missing emission factors
- Apply default datasets
Typical values include:
- CO₂, CH₄, N₂O
- GWP values
- WTW / TTW factors
- Slip factors
⚠️ Important
Changes to emission factors directly impact regulatory reporting. Only adjust values if you are confident in the data source.
5. Sounding Corrections / Debunkering
The module supports corrections such as:
- Sounding adjustments
- Debunkering entries
These are used to correct:
- Measurement deviations
- Tank soundings
- Returned or removed out of specs fuel
6. Attachments (BDN Documents)
Supporting documents can be uploaded and stored per fuel component.
Examples:
- Bunker Delivery Receipts (BDR)
- Supplier documents or certificates
This ensures:
- Audit readiness
- Full documentation of bunker operations
7. Additional Functions
- Soft delete BDN (non-permanent removal special user permission needed
